Shep Smith Condemns Pat Robertson's 'Devil' Comments

I really like this guy. Too bad he's on Fox.

Pat Robertson is a completely piece of sh**. I think most people, regardless of their personal stances, can get together on that one.

However, I did get a chuckle when Pat Robertson followed up his story about how the Haitians sold their souls to the devil for freedom from the French with the classic quip: "It's a true story." I use the same line when I'm telling obvious b.s. stories for fun.

Yeah, it's sad seeing him on FOX when he clearly deserves much better, but then again if he went, then the crazies would only have the likes of Glenn Beck, Oreilly and Hannity and no-one actually sane to talk to them from the TV screens

Every time I see something from Shepard Smith, it amazes me that hes on fox news. I guess they need him to level out becks asshattery. Shep deserves to be on a more respectable station.

According to someone on HBO's documentary "Outrage" Shep is an allegedly closeted homosexual, which may explain why he's the only one on the damn channel with any sense of perspective and sanity.

If these deals can be made with the devil so easily put me on the list

Devil, if you're out there, give me a new PC and make my wife put out more. Oh and toss in a videosift charter membership.

Soul sold to Devil for VS membership. True Story.

dooglesays...

Ummm...the Haitian deal with the devil is a propagated myth spread in France and among Christians about Haiti's victorious fight for independence.

He didn't pull it out of thin air. It's stupid, but then so are stories about storks delivering children, Santa Claus and O.J. Simpson's book "(If) I did it"

entr0pysays...

For a moment setting aside how offensive and crazy this is, this doesn't even make sense to me as a moral teaching.

The reasoning seems to go something along the lines of: "Make a deal with God, be his obedient servant in life and he'll reward you in death. But don't make a deal with the devil, he'll reward you in life but you'll have to be his slave in death." What is the god damn moral difference? Either way you're making a bargain with some invisible super-powered being that will demand sacrifice at one point and give a reward at another point. The only difference is that apparently Satan pays up front, but with God you just have to take his word for it.

Wow, that sounds just like an e-mail I got from this Nigerian prince who promised great reward if I would just pay him up front. I'm still waiting for my reward...

"They made a pact with the Devil(tm)! True story! My imaginary friend in my head told me so! NO NO I did not take my schizophrenia medicine, and I refuse to! Shut up you! I'm not listening to you. Me and myself agree with it completely!"

-Pat Robertson
