Robot Chicken Christmas Special 2010

kceaton1says...

Well, this will now be a Christmas tradition. It'll be watched right after A Christmas Story on Christmas Eve.

Should let the kids fall right to sleep.

It's only 11 minutes long per episode?

Yeah. The stop motion is *really* time consuming to do. I gather that they work pretty much all year for a season of 11 minute episodes.

Wow, so they use the 22 minutes for commercials or what? I never watched their shows on cable and satellite.

Yeah, they are always short.

Wow, that's nuts. I didn't think TV show episodes could be that short. Usually 21 minutes out of 30 minutes (with commercials) or 42 minutes out of an hour (with commercials).

No, no, it's nothing like that. It's 11 solid minutes of show, and then they'll have some commercials, then another 11 minute show (sometimes a Robot Chicken rerun, or an ep of another of their 11 minute shows), then commercials, etc, to make up the typical 22 minutes of show and 8 minutes of commercials for the half hour.

Interesting. I wonder if the upcoming Star Wars episode will be like that too.

@ant: I think that's how one of the seasons of Clone Wars (The Samurai Jack-esque ones) was done. The CGI Clone Wars series is the normal 20+ minute show, though, I think. Is there another series being made?
