Wumpussays...This video shows rare footage of a frilled shark in shallow water. The frilled shark (Chlamydoselachus anguineus) is a primitive shark species, sometimes called a "living fossil" because it resembles extinct species of sharks. Frilled sharks are usually found at depths of around 2,000 feet, but this one somehow found its way into shallow water off the coast of Japan, where it was captured and taken to a nearby marine park. In poor condition, the shark died soon after this video was shot.
LadyBugsays...FAH-reaky!
antsays...It looks like an eel with an ugly face.
legacy0100says...still think it's a retarded shark and not an actual separate species....
LadyBugsays...OMG!!!! i completely forgot that i had a nightmare about this thing the other night ... i woke up with the ickiest feeling ... UGH!!!!!
AnimalsForCrackerssays...You can find some vids of these guys at their natural depth of 2000ft...they are quite agile and thought to be voracious eaters and not nearly as ungainly as this fellow. Probably got caught in an upward current and disoriented. One has to wonder how it feels to be depressurized to that extent!
