demon_ixsays...Wow. It's like the healthcare speech's TL;DR!
demon_ixsays...I also meant to *quality.
siftbotsays...Boosting this quality contribution up in the Hot Listing - declared quality by demon_ix.
acidSpinesays...Well why didn't he just say that from the beginning? It's almost as if he wanted to waste 6 months of his presidency hearing toothless ingnorami call him Hitler.
Sure as there is no hell Sarah Palin won't diddle around that long dismantling these reforms when she's putrifying the oval office in 2012
teebeenzsays...How is this not the #1 sift already?

It seems to me that the problem isn't his not explaining the plan. It is people who don't want to listen. Instead of doing research into the plan, they flip on Fox News or listen to Rush Limbaugh and their hate speech that has nothing to do with health care or the direction of this country.
Psychologicsays...I hear he's planning a government take-over of medicare. =P

I have begun to suspect that may have been exactly the plan.
Let the circus begin early so everyone gets tired of the spectacle by the time it matters. All the lunatics wear themselves out, the corporations exhaust their advertising funds and the lobbyists and pundits overstay their welcome on the issue. Let it all run its course and then step in to present a simple coherent plan.
This country only has a limited attention span for any one topic. The conservatives have already shot their wad on 'death panels' and the Socialism lie. No one wants to report on it anymore and no one wants to hear it. The table is now set to get this done.
alizarinsays...I hope you're right TheFreak!
lampishthingsays...Isn't this the speech that yer man shouted Liar! in?
Seems like that was really effective in taking the spotlight off the actually reforms then.
Winstonfield_Pennypackersays...The bills that are passing like a kidney stone through congress pretty much make everything he's saying here a typical political lie. The bulk of what he's saying is stuff that is completely irrelevant. Health insurance already covers routine care. It already has out of pocket limits. You can get coverage if you're unemployed. The only thing preventing a 'national marketplace' for insurance (without taxes) is government. How about instead of a massive government boondoggle we just allow insurance companies to compete across state boundries & implement tort reform?
But no - that would be too cheap and simple. The only 'proper' solution is his moronic lather-rinse-repeat of Medicare/Medicaid. There's nothing here. This is all platitudes & rhetoric which ignores perfectly viable alternatives, avoids discussing specifics of the bills in congress, and hides fact behind vaguery. Yawn. Put this in the "puffery" pile where it belongs.
