Its call WORK. Get a job. Contribute to society not take from it.

contributing to society would be helping the poor wouldn't it?!?

how come that contract you make from society to a poor kid doesn't equate to the contract from a rich person to their child? ie, to pay their way in school, why shouldn't a rich kid be required to do the same thing?

let alone, this doesn't even touch on a child's social development, and the importance of after school activities, or a life outside school

honestly... we are talking about children in elementary school to high school here... not adults

contribute to society != contribute only to oneself

This is such an excellent example of a typical intellectually dishonest liberal I just had to upvote.

Stink Unctuous takes a proposal that a kid be given the chance--not forced--to earn his own money doing a needed task and somehow turns it into...who the hell knows.

Here's the truth that scares liberals: a kid who earns money is a lot less likely to approve of thugverment taking the lion's share of it and handing it over to some kid who did nothing to earn it.

Kids, learn early that government is not your friend or parent but a necessary evil.

If the purpose of this proposal is to teach children to value the money they have earned, then it would apply to the rich kids as well.
Unless, of course, you want to argue that the rich kids, by virtue of a greed-soaked upbringing, are already so obsessed with hoarding away money that they wouldn't learn much from a part time job. ..personally, I think that would be an unfair characterization of the rich kids.

You are poor
You cannot get an education because you cannot pay for it.
The real jobs you could feed a family with have been relocated into cheaper countries by patriotic job creators..

An illegal job opportunity might be your best.. truly best choice in that moment and thats why many poor people end up in jail..

Patriotic job creators would do the same thing in that situation..

Contributing to Society is being able to take care of you own shit. The rich kid should work also as it builds moral fiber. As for kids social development working would be better that doing nothing, playing video games and staying on the streets all hours of the night. Work is good for ones sole. It builds self esteem, good character and you makes some money.

Oh wait that's it. If little Johnny learns the value of work he'll probably turn that little skull of his into a capitalist. Liberals can't have that, no fucking way will your ilk let that happen. Keep johnny stupid, dependent and feed him liberal lies that the world "OWES" him a better life. >> ^packo:

How long is the left going to hit this class envy bullshit? Hey, I know it works, especially in the Age of Entitlement. At the top, the bell curve still exists, wise wealthy parents will not spoil their kids. A great lesson would be showing the kid how much the government takes in taxes from the wealthy.

"Father, why do you pay 38% of your income in taxes while the 'bottom' 50% pay nothing?"

"Because promising to punish the rich buys votes from the poor, son. Also, it's a form of riot insurance."

And there's a lot of that in both the rich and the poor. If you're that concerned about the lazy, entitled population, are you just going to pretend there are no Paris Hiltons? Give me a break.

There is too many lazy people taking from society and that's the problem. Whats worse many feel entitled.

So if nobody takes from society what's the point of contributing to it? It's call grow a BRAIN

If you are rich enough to be lazy that that's your issue. We are talking about poor lazy people who would rather leach and blame the system rather that man up and try to better ones station in life. >> ^heropsycho:

Oh, so trust fund kiddies, it's okay? That's sorta my point, you don't truly have a problem with people being lazy, unproductive leaches. You just have a problem when it's poor people. Translation: even if it's a problem that is an inevitable result of your political ideology, you just ignore it. In your mind, the only significant problem in this country is lazy poor people who leach from society through government programs, or the existence of said government programs at all. What about the financial industry who leached from society in liar's loans, breaches of gov't regulation like Sarbanes-Oxley, pollute the environment we all share because it's less costly, etc.

There's no outrage from you there because that would mean the gov't would have to do more than your ideology allows.
