kronosposeidonThis is *newsworthy, given its connection to the RNC, correct?

GeeSussFreeKEven after the long statement, I have no idea what is going on to who and why. Anyone want to destill it for me?
MemorareAmateurs. -Effective- radical action requires radical techniques, they shoulda set up a series of bait houses to keep porky diverted and chasing his tail until it was too late to prevent the groups from showing up at the rnc. Vet your membership better too, was probably an inside rat.

That right there is reason to believe the people would be up to no good.
Nobody uses the word 'radical' to describe an organization that isn't prone to violence.
DuoJetsays...Nothing new here. In 2003, cops in my town (St. Louis, MO) raided several houses just prior to a large agri-business conference. The targets were potential protesters. Police broke down doors, stole bikes and tools, URINATED on people's floors, and ARRESTED cyclists for "bicycling without a license". Google the terms "St. Louis police" and "bicycling without a license" if you'd like to read some news and accounts.
CrosswordsShe keeps her eyes closed an awful lot while explaining things, dangerous levels of smug?
I was actually looking at these earlier today. Check out as Mr.Uptake completely runs that stop sign in a residential area: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKRPuza1RKU in his Volkswagen Jetta, as he was sure to remind people in another video. I have a hard time taking them seriously and I actually agree with most of their base level positions. What about the rest of America, is that effectual protest?
As far as the actual raids, it sounds horrible. I think they were looking for
WMDsMolotov cocktails and other implements of destruction, and of course didn't find any (as far as I'm aware). Which makes me think the cops had a whole heap of BS for evidence to get the warrants.
8296says...The NLG is a great group. On March 20th 2003 (the day we began formally bombing Iraq) I was walking around taking photos when all of a sudden riot cops shut down whole blocks, beating people, entrapping people and illegally mass arresting everyone. I joined a class action lawsuit against the SFPD through NLG and my charges of "inciting a riot" were dropped. I just wish there was more to be done to punish lawless police enforcement... it's rampant in cities, especially if you want change and you're not fighting for neocon agendas that damage the world and people further.
Riot cops are the real pigs. Dirty, rotten, fucking pigs.
EDD"Whelan says his roommate, Erin Stalmaker, went out to talk to talk to the police. She asked the officers why they were there. The officers asked why people were running away from them. Erin reportedly told the officers that their drawn automatic weapons probably had something to do with it. She was detained after asking to see a warrant."

NordlichReiterThey have to have a warrant in order to search and seize. Any one who says the chops were in the right needs to read the bill of rights.
jwrayThe police are doing much more to incite a riot here than any of the "radicals".
By the way, Martin Luther King Jr was called "radical".
The word "radical" is often used to conflate peaceful protest with armed revolutionaries, and only a tiny fraction of people who are called radicals actually promote violence.
gorillamanGoodbye fascism-lite, hello fascism.

MrConradsIsn't this how a good number of those detained at gitmo were rounded up? Our government simply placed a title on certain individuals and then swept them away. Or neighbors turned on neighbors who didn't like each other and claimed that they were terrorists simply to get rid of them? Isn't this just an example of the power that the patriot act really has? Its not up to you or me anymore, our rights are quickly becoming exercisable only at the discretion of this government and if they don't want us to do something they simply have to label us and round us up.
Arrest someone because they are prone to violence!? FUCK.THAT! So we are going to raid and arrest people because we think they MIGHT do something? So we dont even have to commit the act anymore we simply need the thought in our head?
FUCK anyone who would become a willing participant of this fascist machine.

Fox News uses the word "radical" to describe: DailyKos, Huffington Post, Talking Points Memo, ACLU, the Democratic party, and Obama's whole family.
Lots of people misuse the word.
imstellar28says..."...there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there? Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror."
