Nobody is Smarter Than You Are

"Nobody understands what is happening. Not Buddhists, not Christians, not government scientists. Just deal with the raw data, and trust yourself.

Nobody Is Smarter Than You Are."
Terence McKenna.

I listened to a part of one mp3, and it seems to me that you could replace his 'Novelty' with Robert Pirsig's 'Quality' at least in the beginning. Where McKenna goes forward with it, (and more mainstream), Pirsig took it much farther back to where it all started at the most basic. I'd love to see some thought put between the two.

Terence McKenna does use the word 'Quality' in much the same was as Pirsig uses it, but here the word 'novelty' is referring directly to a *property* of time, with the opposite of novelty being 'habit'.

Things tend toward habit, but every once in a while things stray from habit into novelty. Novelty theory is McKenna's 'why' of the straying from the path of habit.

I agree that Terence goes forward into mainstream lines of thought with Novelty theory in many of his talks, I think he genuinely wanted this theory to be taken seriously by the mainstream.

I read much of Terence's work but I didn't start taking him seriously until I *listened* to the hours and hours of audio available. Anyone who knows about Terence will know exactly what I mean.
