I'm a US citizen living abroad. I will vote in the election. We had national elections here in Australia a couple of months ago. I voted then too - though here it is compulsory.

it's not as much the deer in the headlights look, that bothers me.

although that certainly isn't reassuring.

what bothers me most is the gomerly aura of incompetence.
that glazed-over look of "huh? who, me?", that everyone seems to be wearing, like it's the latest fashion.

Is this moron so stupid as to continually fail to answer the question over and over and over again? It's a very simple question he was being asked.

That's horrifying. The whole point of the recount was to verify that nobody had tampered with the results of the election. If someone *had* done so, they'd certainly be motivated to tamper with the recount as well. Ensuring that a vote count is accurate is absolutely imperative for the populace to believe the results are legitimate.

Unless, of course, the populace is asleep. Which seems to be the case. Hooray.
