But you know what the bible thumpers will have to say about this? "Well, some of the things in the bible were 'of the time', and we have to take that into account in how we 'interpret' the bible" (although when they say it, bible will be capitalized)

But you know why that ridiculous argument falls flat? Because you try to tell people that the bible is the WORD OF GOD, and if these passages say they're the WORD OF GOD then the time they were said can't have ANY BARING. You can't pick and choose the WORD OF GOD... if you're going to believe the bible then you're going to have to believe every damn thing that it says that god said.

Go on, believe and follow ALL of it, not just the bits you think are fair. If you're going to do that you may as well treat the bible as any rational thinking person does any book they read, and read it using their own moral compass as a guide. The things they agree with or find to be of worth they can take on board, and the bits they don't like, they ignore or leave. They then do not base their entire life on THAT ONE BOOK and what it says, they continue to grow as a human being by reading and experiencing as much as possible.

This demonstrates this SO WELL. It should be required viewing at schools dammit.

On one of those instances he said something along the lines of:

So in the end he ended up not addressing the video at all. All I hope is that the number of christian people who think this way as a reply to this video are not part of the majority. (he also said once that before sin, all animals were vegetarians. So I pray that bullshit like that is not widespread)
