I'm sorry, I don't see the point of this. Maybe it's my hateful nature but this is just...ridiculous. This isn't against people with disabilities, this is against fake theater. I can't even believe anyone thought this was a good idea.

@Yogi, you are looking at it as a sports match. It isn't fake theater -- it IS theater.

I know what you mean -- at first I had the exact same reaction. But cerebral palsy folks have senses of humor, too. The kid was having fun and everyone got behind it. And I joined in by the end.

Theater. Not fake theater.

Whatever I just don't see the point. It's almost like they're making fun of this kid. I'd be in this room while everyone smiled and clapped, I'd be the only one shaking my head going "What the fuck is wrong with you motherfuckers."

You are assuming that the kid is passive in this. You are assuming that the people don't know what a good sense of humor this kid has.

I am projecting all sorts of stuff onto this kid, as are you, dear @Yogi. But given that his parents allowed it, I think that the evidence leans towards my particular set of projections.

Can I assume you aren't an outgoing sort of person? Someone who doesn't like attention being called to yourself? Me, I have had a little career in acting here in my town. So my inclination is towards loving having attention paid to me. Are you the opposite? Can you imagine liking being the center of attention?

Theater. Having fun. If it were anything else, the parents would not have allowed this. I am 100% certain.

Listen none of that matters to me, I'm saying this looks ridiculous to me, accept that.

Also I'm not assuming anything about this kid, he could love it, his parents could love it. It's still ridiculous, he didn't win anything.

All intentions aside, I find my feelings toward this more aligned with Yogi's. I can appreciate it as much as I would an inside joke that I am on the outside of. =P
