This was one of the few first person shooters that I really got into.

The story was good, and I loved playing his nightmare sequence late at night with the headphones on.

I agree it is classic. Really made me glad I bought a Radeon when they were brand new. November 2000, I paid CAN$670+tax for a video card! Didn't get my money's worth until I played through this and got into Tribes 2.

Oh, and the leather pants chick from this series gets my vote for hottest pixelated character of all time.

Max Payne 2 was better. I wished the games had replayabilities. I was hoping some good addons.

Max Payne 2 definitely had better gameplay, but I liked the storyline for the first a lot better. Plus Max looked a lot cooler in the first. Seriously, the constipated look has gotta be a trademark. (And Mona was cuter too.)

Mona had a jaw the size of a planet in Max Payne 2

I hope a third Max Payne will come.
