IronDwarfsays...That's like my neighbor setting my house on fire because he's angry about my dog pooping on his lawn; not the best way to get one's point across.
demon_ixsays...Let's assume the following:
- That really was the reason behind 9-11, and Sheik Mohammed didn't just say anything to get his interrogators to stop waterboarding him.
- No one in the US government had any part in the attacks, directly or indirectly (meaning, no one knew the attacks were going to happen and didn't stop them, no one diverted air defenses away from the NYC area for a drill, no one planted explosives in the WTC to make sure they collapse, etc).
With that said, even if he was just a guy who woke up one morning, chatted with Osama about how bad it is that the US and Israel are committing atrocities in the Palestinian territories, and decided to take down the WTC as a result, Isn't reporting his interrogation statements and his reasoning for the attacks promoting his agenda?
Isn't this exactly what he wanted to accomplish?
I don't condone or approve of any press manipulation for or against any interest group, but this seems to me like the press not rewarding terrorism with free advertising.

I agree that divulging this information would further their agenda, but knowing the motive takes away the quality of terrorism out of it. He mentions atrocities committed against Palestinians and exploitation of Arabs and muslims.
If these are really happening, and being caused by the US government, wouldn't retaliation against such violence be morally justified? Wouldn't you want to know?
This video actually answered a question I've always had: Why the Twin towers, why not just military/government buildings? To "wake American people up", of course, duh! Too bad it didn't work, the majority of Americans are either too dumb and complacent with their government or because government has done such a good job of ensuring people conform/not care about what they do (conservatives want govt to keep doing the same shit, social liberals want to make it worse with more govt).
Congressman Ron Paul was the first man with guts to risk his political career and correctly state the 9/11 terrorists' intentions on a live nationwide TV broadcast. Many people who heard Ron Paul that day have woken up already.
timtonersays...I never though there WAS a question. I mean, the name itself, "WORLD TRADE Center". It's all about anti-globalization. They mind the fact that we remove crude oil from their homelands (which, given their delusions about an Eternal Caliphate, is a big swath of land), and give monstrously corrupt regimes all the cash and military might they want, as long as they keep the situation contained. The region was never stable to begin with, but with the way it was set up, it'll never get better. In their eyes, the WTC was where all those petrodollars were laundered and used to put a respectable business face on the dark deeds of the past. It's why Ward Churchill got into so much trouble by referring to those who worked in the WTC as 'little Eichmanns'-- hey, man, they were only following orders, pushing papers around an office. He wasn't calling them Nazis. Rather, Eichmann was found guilty not of killing anyone, but rather perfecting a system, the consequences of which was the slaughter of millions. This does not justify in any way the actions taken by the hijackers and their masters. The religion they so fervently follow forbids 'collateral damage'. They are hypocrites, and they are delusional. All this came out before, and I can imagine the MSM not really giving a damn about trucking out that bag of loons one more time.
As for 'It's Israel, stupid!" I'm not a fan of atrocities against unarmed civilians. I have no idea what it would take to make that part of the world get along. I do know that, were we to follow the whims of Khalid Sheikh Mohammad, the entire country AND race would be driven into the sea and drowned. There is no pretense to compromise. Israel is a convenient head to hang their hate. Simple as that. Could Israel chill the crap out a little more? Probably. 34 Americans died on the USS Liberty because Israel got sloppy.
The Palestinians need to realize what the people in Kansas seem incapable of understanding--there are people out there who will deceive you. They will make you believe that they are on your side, and protecting your interests. In truth, they only want to stir up the muck within yourselves, and will often make you act outside of your own self-interest. If we can't solve it among people at relative peace, how do we solve it when both sides have been going at it for decades?

I'd say it's more like your neighbor kicking your dog for shitting on his lawn every day for 53 years.

I agree - not the best way to get one's point across. 911 was an unforgivable atrocity but what this guy is trying to say is that there's no discussion or awareness of what WE did to provoke it. If someone burns down our house that's awful but if we've been a serial arsonists for profit since Truman and the police don't care then maybe we don't hold the moral high ground anymore when someone finally says fuck it and burns our house down.
In the aftermath of 911 we've killed many many more civilians in Iraq than died in the twin towers and they didn't even have anything to do with it. That's a non-issue in this country and that's very fucked up. The pre-911 stuff is less straight forward but I don't think anybody with intellectual honesty could say we're not responsible for *many* times more deaths and desctruction of culture by our long standing habit of paying and supporting dictators to do our dirty work throughout the middle east and the rest of the world. 911 is just a tiny drop in the bucket in comparison. Terrible and unforgivable but still just a tiny drop in the bucket.
If we refuse to realize our part in this stuff, shit like this is going to keep happening. I don't want my kids to die in a dirty bomb attack because my neighbors refuse to have the tiniest bit of self awareness and responsibility.
