Real sweet! Thanks for the post & re-promote! (missed it the first time)

Having some real trouble capturing what about it that I really like, but it resonates all the same. Perhaps just a simple "Word".

Wait, I thought he was going to be "performing" Moon River....he's just taking the recording and playing it...then screwing around with it. This isn't "creating" music, it's just playing music from a record and then screwing around with it.

The emperor has no clothes. Come on. This is a joke right?

If you can't comprehend how his manipulation of the record re-contextualizes the song and gives it new meaning, then you simply won't understand electronic music.

Or any cover songs.

Or any blues bands.

Or jazz bands.

Great video. Art indeed.

I have to go with Goofball on this one.

I go to every type of electronic music party in the universe, but this is just screwing around to me. My-first-DJ stuff. Give me the original any day.

To claim that you go to "every type of electronic music party in the universe" is pretty obscene, especially since you think what Kid Koala does in this video is easy, "My-First-DJ" stuff.

Your welcome to prefer the original of course, but unless your going to assert your credentials in a less hyperbolic fashion, I'd suggest throttling back on the condescension a touch.

I never said it was easy. I just said that if something is hard to do, that doesnt make it good.

Perhaps my-first-DJ is a little hard. But he does something that a lot of starting artist do. He shows how good his technique is without considering if the audience actually likes what he comes up with.

And yes, you can argue that art is for art. It is a very convenient way of making everything art. I love experimentation and I understand it sometimes doesnt work. But this, well, feels all wrong. He is putting in riffs because he can, not because they work.

If the original is better then the remix and the remix doesnt bring something new (a faster beat for instance), why not show how good you are by creating something yourself or improving on the original in some way?

Dont worry, it is all taste in the end.
