skfortysays...from wiki: "Blue has cerebral palsy and many of his jokes center on living with his disability, how he deals with it and how other people view him. "
This guy is mildly funny. A chuckle at best. I do appreciate the fact that he can laugh at his disability, but it seems clear that its the reason he got voted through and won. What is really irritating is that people will say things like, "He won despite of his disability!" as if its a handicap, when in this case it was obviously an advantage.
Anlizsays...As non-PC as it is, I think skforty is completely right. Even watching this myself I feel some sort of compassion to want him to win because he seems disadvantaged, but that is not fair to the other competitors not is it even fair to him. Hopefully he is only bringing attention to his disability for the laughs and not the sympathy votes.
sfjockosays...i agree. he's unpolished, and the fact that he is disabled causes me to pay more attention. he's kinda cute and charming, and has a nice presence on stage, and the humor was a bit of a one-trick pony. regardless, i am sure it marks a major personal triumph for him -- and i am sure much of his support was from the sympathy vote.
SnakePlisskensays...He certainly doesn't seem to feel sorry for himself, and he lives a very full life so I don't agree with the sympathy vote idea. In my opinion, his confidence on stage won him first prize.
I see his style of comedy as similar to Dave Chappelle's, as they both mock the social stereotypes that affect their personal experiences.
deputydogsays...Good clip but only due to the fact that I've never seen a stand-up with that kind of disability before. His routine's amusing but nothing more
pho3n1xsays...he even says at the end of the routine that if he were 'fixed' then 'there goes his gig'.
he's well aware that most of his material is based on his disability, but why not? i would.
drforeverclearsays...thanks for posting snake, was gonna do so had it not been done.
he was a shoe in from day one.
