While you both (dystopianfuturetoday and billpayer) have a point here, it's not as black and white as you describe it. She does have a few points(even though they are exaggerated), the special treatment of islam for instance.

Having said that, I think the UNHRC is a farce anyway which should be obvious if you look at who is a member of it: Saudi Arabia, China, Bahrain, Russia, ...

^I agree that she has valid points. My problem with these groups is that they have no genuine concern for anything outside of their narrow corporate agenda, and will say and do anything to manufacture consent for their objectives. Interesting, and where are the getting tossed into ovens by the tens of thousands? Where do women still get stoned for showing their faces? While no doubt, the subject or some western bigotry, the comparison to them to Jews is just patently absurd. Even African Americans pre-60s had it harder then Muslims today. Are there separate Muslims bathrooms, no.

Western bigotry over Muslim ideals is inevitable, because as they currently are incompatible. They don't have to be, but that is the current state of them. A man can beat his wife for not putting out. A women can be stoned for adultery, and adultery can be so loosely defined as being alone with another man that is not your husband.

This does cause undue stress on Muslims that do not practice these ideals, they are the true victims. But they still don't have it as bad as AA did in America, the Jews in German, or the women in Muslim countries do today.

Consent is just as bad as participation. Defending an ideology that has people tortured, mutilated and/or killed for such terrible offenses as trying to avoid forced marriage, wanting to own a mobile phone or have a boyfriend, or trying to protect your daughter from being killed by your husband and son for refusing an arranged and incestuous marriage... just to name a few; anyone defending such an ideology partakes in the guilt of its gruesome results.

Not to say that all muslims are evil (or some equally stupid generalisation), just that covering up the barbaric ideology they (often unknowingly) adhere to is not an example of "tolerance" but of dangerous ignorance.

Just look at orthodox Jews in Israel if you want to see the oppression of women. I don't see the west stepping in to 'help' them.
