I love the pure joy in their voices when:
1. they realize they're perfectly okay
2. they realize they captured the whole thing on camera

Looks like somebody is happy to be alive...

It's really surprising how jovial they are. They just seem like nothing happened. I expected a few more moments of "Holy shit, we were almost blown to smitherines!" Of course, I can understand if that sort of thinking is best kept buried below your laughter while on the battlefield.

are they talking about scaring little kids in the beginning. I swear I heard one of them say something like "it would be really funny if you threw a smoke grenade at a group of kids."

They also said something to the effect of it looking like a gay pride parade on the street or something. I assume they were kvetching about some hold-up delaying their convoy.

Ironically, that's the kind of commentary the somethingawful.com article was discussing.

Yeah yeah yeah . . . people were bitching about the troops not having armoured vehicles. Now they have them, and people bitch about their actions. Then they bitch about soldiers being used as tools. If THAT got fixed, you'd bitch about something else. Go do something useful . . . like inspect a bridge, donate time to charity at a soup kitchen, or just go for a walk.

By the way, great footage. Looks like the new armour is better than the old stuff.

Their humor/laughter is their defense mechanism. Add with a nice shot of Adrenaline and Wartime stress... you'd have the same reaction. :-)

I said it looks like a gay pride parade on Michigan (the main road in Ramadi) because of all the different colors of smoke that they threw. And yes we were talking about scaring kids, because often times insurgents would use them to come out and wave to us to judge our distance so they could pop out with a rocket after and have accurate aim. not because we get our rocks off from it.
