Hubble's Successor: The James Webb Space Telescope

YT: Named in 2002 in honour of NASA's administrator during the Apollo programme, the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) mission is a collaborative project between the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the European Space Agency and the Canadian Space Agency.

I love the end where they show off its specs like an unlockable weapon or vehicle in a video game.

If the money wasted on human space flight was channeled into robots and telescopes, we would all be better off.

but if its orbit is going to be to high, humans won't be able to service it like Hubble..?

I hope before they launch it I hope they can craft a mirror more regular than the one depicted in this rendering. I'm sure they won't make it out of 100 year-old glass like the one shown here.

they even used some of the same sounds as in terminator: future shock

i wonder if they'll shoot it straight to it's destination or park it on orbit for assembly first
being such a complicated and precise instrument, and knowing all the trouble we went through with hubble, i would think it dumb to launch it and just trust that it will work
