How the hell is this trick done?

Duration 6 minutes 57 seconds.

Has coin palmed at 2:59 and then when he spreads the other "3" coins on the table you can see the two coins on the right are connected. Spring loaded trick coin activates when the table is struck and snaps into place to look like one coin. Then he reveals the palmed coin.

The people at the table are in on it. at 5:21 the camera changes angle so you don't see that he is sliding a piece of the glass with his left hand and does the same thing at 6:18 when he slides it back. That's how his hand goes through.

Sorry. lol .. you know it's a set up when at 2:54 they zoom in so you can't see his hands .. then they zoom out and he clearly has it palmed. A lot of these "amazing" tricks are done with fake crowds. It's really blatant at :54 when they zoom in and allow him to put the same trick coin in his right hand.

The trick to spotting magicians tricks is never look at what their hands are doing. Look at what the rest of their body is doing. With a small caveat that when one hand is no longer the center of attention, look to see what it's doing =)

It's kinda fun to look for when you know what to look for =)

Some serious sleight of hand going on there...
Well the first couple of sleights were good, but the hand part was cheesy. Gave it away right there, ruined it for me.

I agree, that went too far. The effect was far more powerful using just coins.

There is no sleight of hand. Rigged table, rigged coins, rigged "crowd" and the camera make it happen. Anyone could do this. Check :54 If the camera doesn't include your hands for 2 seconds, that's not sleight of hand, that sleight of camera. Everyone at the table sees it. I'm only making the point because there are still great magicians who can do real sleight of hand. This is just a staged act.

burdturglersays...

No, it is the same rigged coin the whole time. When he drops the coin through the table look, first he reaches into the guys hand at :30. He squeezes the rigged coin together to make it look like one coin, and then comes away with nothing in his right hand. In his left hand he has a palmed coin, he's had it there the whole time (you can see his pinky and ring finger sloppily "palming" it). He drops nothing from his right hand and releases the palmed coin from his left hand into the dish under the table. No magnets involved.

I did think it was sort of clever with the coins in the bowl and he taps the glass with the bowl and one of them sticks to his magnet finger.. I think that is a neat trick to teach to your eight year old. What an amazing "talent" this guy is.

Indeed. If you pause at 3:16 you can see 4 coins. 3 on top, one below in his palm. >> ^burdturgler:

Yeah the camera movements are very fishy. I don't quite understand the hole in the glass, though. Was there a piece of glass that sat very seamlessly on the rest of the glass? It seems like that would be very hard to fit exactly right and have no seam or refraction. Maybe it's coated with an oil on the edge to keep there from being any refraction.
