rychansays...Amazing video, but I'm fairly certain this is not how most tower cranes are erected. I'd guess this is a feature of fancier tower cranes, maybe those meant to go really high where mobile cranes can't help them into place.

rgroom1says...The crane on Georgia Tech campus (they're doing construction) didn't look like it had that "shroud" to hoist itself up, but it looked like it had the place to attach it.
Ickstersays...The most interesting thing to me is watching that thing rock back and forth as the center of gravity changes. I got a little sick watching it.
