A guide demonstrates what you can do with a real image from a giant concave mirror at the San Francisco Exploratorium.

I was a bit disappointed with the second trick and the reaction to the second trick. "Hey, you see how light reflects from the mirror to where things are? Look, i can use this torch to make light reflect from the mirror to where things are!"

Wow, I think you are really missing out like people who can't see the image in "magic eye" stereograms. I thought it was a pretty killer effect.

The awesomesauce isn't just from where the light is landing, but that it looks like there are two of him and the other one is leaning forward out of the mirror into 3D space to shine the light into her mouth.

Yeah, I don't get it either, do you have to be there in person to get the effect? Isn't this what mirrors are supposed to do?

A flat mirror couldn't do what you see there. Since light or sound spreads by the inverse square law, the light placed on someone's mouth in a flat mirror will spread out rather than focus. Try it, to really get the experience.

They have one at the Corning Museum of Glass in upstate NY. I took my nieces to it last summer and they had quite a bit of fun.
