Helicopter shootdown in Syria

Mordhaussays...

That had to be like an RC helicopter strapped with explosive or something. Military helicopters don't just vaporize when they are hit. There should have been large chunks of debris; like identifiable pieces of the tail, rotor, or cockpit.

You can hit a helicopter with a guided missile and it won't blow up like that.

Well at least their god was happy.

The helicopter may have been carrying a lot of explosives (missiles, rockets, ammunition, whatever), which detonated. I can imagine a full payload going up at once might blow it to bits.

Allah must be half-deaf.

See the video where the Syrian rebel cuts the guy's chest open and rips out and eats the heart? Good stuff. So russia is weaponizing the regime while we're backing the rebels. Sounds like a plan, Mr. Obama. Good luck!

See Afghanistan 1979-1989, history is a great wheel.

Yeah but you're using rational thought. If you stop doing that, it might make sense.. somehow.

I just don't understand praising your god during an acto fo violence and destruction - no matter the religion.

enochsays...

how do you get a normal human being to enact horrendous violence against another?
is it a normal state of being to murder, torture and inflict incredible violence?
so what is the means by which you change a regular persons attitude from one of relative peacefulness to one of violent aggression?

historically speaking the vehicle has been religion and in the last century the western nations used nationalism but BOTH used the tactic of demonizing the opponent while rationalizing that somehow death, murder and torture were not only good but praiseworthy.

now under scrutiny do these rationalizations hold up? not at all, because they are anything BUT rational.the state uses the vehicle of religion and/or nationalism to appeal to the emotional rather than the rational.

i am totally with you dag.to glorify and justify the destruction of other human beings all in the name of a god or a nation which purport to love peace is the height of hypocrisy.

while the grievances may be real and justified,to make the claim that murder is somehow gods will,or somehow keeping peace in accordance with the states motives are just delusional thinking.

So someone died here - for sure - but in my opinion this video depicts a helicopter blowing up and not a person's death - even though we know that the pilot inside died. That's my take, but I'm happy to discuss it.
