Understand where you're coming from, but..

They got what they wanted out of life. This was their strongest belief that humans could evolve further if they took the steps they took. And the scientist in me says - you don't know that they didn't achieve what they aimed for.

Example - some people enjoy pain. Most people hate pain. When they find someone that enjoys to hurt them, it's not abuse or assault, and it's nothing to think negatively about. It's their decision, it's what they want to do, it's their life, and you can't take that away from them. I felt vaguely uplifted after hearing them interviewed.. i don't know if that's good or bad.

Another crazy ass cult lead by a charismatic manipulative asshole. The leader had a history of announcing "The UFO is coming". I saw an interview with two people who were teenage members of a UFO cult in the 70s. It was lead by the leader of heavens gate (Do?).

He had everyone assembled at a specific location in the 70's waiting for the UFO to pick them up. It didnt show...

So the cult dissolved, he was made look the fraud he was. Years later when those two people saw this on the news they said something like, Well he found a way that he wont have to face being wrong again.

I almost pissed myself.

My logical side says good riddance. My emotional side is very sad that they were so blind to reality, like many others in this world. The only difference being that this particular cult included suicide in their pointless rituals and beliefs.
