GTA Coke commercial

joedirtsays...

Sorry for downvote. But I'm sick of the orwellian adverts. Coca-Cola is so evil. They take a popular video game, and steal it's imagery for their message, and then make it viral ad, then make some bulls&@t happy-save-the-world song..

Is Coca-Cola giving a little bit of love? How's their selling Atlanta municipal water at $1 a 20oz bottle working? You know how much gasoline is wasted shipping freaking water from one city to another cities grocery stores? Let alone their HFCS. Sorry, but f@#k Coke.

I too resent the emotional manipulation JD, I'm voting for the ad agency creative team.

I think if you are aware of the attempted manipulation, it's OK to like the artistry behind it. Oh, and Coke sucks.

Deanosays...

Evil? I think that's a bit strong. And reflecting popular culture is nothing new. We've seen videogame themes used in ads and tv shows before, all in the name of entertainment and ultimately the bottom line.

Most big companies suck to some extent - maybe Nestle IS evil - but I love this ad, it's creative and very well executed. It's worth rewatching to catch all the various details.

Also I think it would be refreshing if we had a videogame in which you can perform good deeds. Personally I'm a little tired of shooting things - having said that I'm looking forward to Dead Rising

I'm with joedirt on this one.

I just think this *is* a rubbish video.

Oh, and Deano, you can totally do good things in GTA - ambulance, firetruck, taxi missions. Pizza deliveries. Whether the vigilante police missions are "good" things is debatable, but I still say "boo-urns" to this one.

I see a lot of movies in the theater, and EVERY SINGLE TIME I see this stupid thing before the movie. Even if the Coca-Cola corporation wasn't a pestilence, even if this video didn't rip off the creative work of others, I'd still hate it from sheer, mind-numbing repetition.
