theo47says...She's not confused - she just didn't get the old talking points about Dubya's cocaine use.
Bush's people never denied that he used cocaine (and more than the one time Obama did), but they didn't deny it, either (for fear of Dubya's old coke partiers coming out of the woodwork) - which is pretty much an admission on their part.
Besides, if there's any question of lingering effects of using the drug, Bush is a much easier target than Obama.
Farhad2000says...Okay, in our society it's soon going to be impossible to find anyone who hasn't at least tried drugs once. What a non-issue.

This is the book she's refering to From Wikipedia:
In a biography of Bush, Fortunate Son (ISBN 1-887128-84-0), James Hatfield investigated claims that Bush had been arrested for cocaine possession and that he had the record expunged; Hatfield said he found corroboration from three people close to the Bush family. Bush called Hatfield's book "totally ridiculous" but declined to discuss whether he had used drugs before 1974. [20]. Critics have pointed out the sources for the book are unnamed and the facts uncorroborated. Four days after its publication the book's publisher, St. Martin's Press, discovered that Hatfield had been previously convicted of attempted murder and spent five years in jail. When faced with the allegations Hatfield initially denied them but later admitted they were true. St. Martin's recalled the book and mothballed others. Hatfield pointed out that, before the Bush campaign brought pressure to bear, St. Martin's had stated that the book had been "carefully fact-checked and scrutinized by lawyers". ([21]) The book was later republished by another publisher shortly before Hatfield died of a drug overdose in an act of suicide.
Last sentence emphasis is mine. Yes *ahem* suicide.
theo47says...In this case, anyway, it's a non-issue - what with Bush's de facto admission of cocaine use I explained above.
A couple of decades ago, however, I believe that Douglas Ginsburg's admission to the Senate that he used marijuana was a factor in his nomination to the Supreme Court being dismissed. (That was at the height of Nancy Reagan's infamous "Just Say No To Drugs" campaign.)
Kruposays...Alcoholic - "drinking problem" - way to soft pedal it. Idiot talking heads. Heck, they probably know the truth but they want to hide it.
Bush is already in office and we know he's a big coke-head. <shrug>
ILostMyPasswordRagarnoksays...Ahhhh the magic world of Fox News where it's okay to say "I think he did that, I'm not sure I don't remember who wrote it but I think someone did, or not..."
Wingoguysays...My father went to Yale with Bush and was good friends with his roommate. Asked about his memories of Bush, "He was always out of the room partying or in the room, drunk". Hehe...funny but true.
joedirtsays...I love how Faux News can in the same breathe say, of course Bush never admitted to coke use and no one has any proof, but then go on to criticize Clinton for pot smoking in college in the 60s. WTF? One is a washed up rich boy partier drunk and on coke his whole life. The other is a Rhodes scholar. Unbelievable. And now they want to go after Obama who might have used drugs in an urban high school, but since been a exemplary citizen and patriot. How many of daddy's businesses did he bankrupt? How many years of his adult life were spent at the bottom of a whiskey glass?
