It's sad that having an objective discussion about Israel as a modern day 21st century middle eastern nation is so difficult.

A Nation is measured by what it does. Not by it's alliances or historical suffering.

I disagree with the use of the word "Lunatic". It implies that the Israeli government isn't of sound mind and is not aware of what it's doing, or that it doesn't have a plan. It does, at least certain powerful sectors of it's government does.

Lunatic is a strong word. But I have to say I don't think it's far off the mark. In that the government is bent on continuous war. But for an ideological purpose. Within that ideological purpose or goal they've been at war since they existed. >> ^Yogi:

Yeah but it just doesn't fit the definition. They're bent on continuous war because it's a strategy that has worked for them. They're not crazy, they're making a conscious decision in order to please the "Godfather" in this case the US and they get protection and funding for it. I think calling them Lunatics absolves them of responsibility, and it shouldn't they are completely and uniquely responsible.
