Finally the media tells the truth - BillO a jerk and buffoon

David Shuster calls Bill O'Reilly a "jerk" and "such a buffoon" in the wake of an incident involving the Factor host at an Obama event this weekend.

"Fox News should be embarrassed" -- what, the last 6 million hours of broadcast slap-dickery from Fox News hasn't won them the Nobel Prize of Ass-Holery, you think some typical Irish lout behavior is suddenly going make Fox News sit up and say, "Geeze, maybe we shouldn't be such huge assholes in the future"? No. Fox News has one purpose in existing: to make the National Enquirer look respectable.

On Stukafox's note Fox news has nothing to be embarrassed about. Bill gets them the rating they want and need. They arent getting rid of him or any other crazies because people tune in to watch them, though maybe not listen. Its like the Howard Stern phenomenon to where at one point everyone who hated him was listening to his show just so they can bitch about it. Fox News is the same, love it or hate it there are millions of both who are watching. Who should be embarrassed in the American people for it being a "news" station but hey we love our Jerry Springer, Jackass, VH1 celebreality, reality shows in general, and any other type of media that depicts us as such as shallow stupid society so in some twisted way we feel better about ourselves. Its like America has become so self hating we are actually buying into now. I still hold on to the hope that a bombshell will drop and we will all wake up, Fox News will be taken off the air, the long awaited death of reality TV will come...but then I realize I live in the real world and not the Matrix and such things will never happen

Don't get me wrong, I am a full fledged Bill O'Reilly hater. However, these shows are just as bad--these folks sound like a bunch of gossiping high schoolers in between classes. "OMG Bill O'Reilly is such a JERK. Can you believe what he DID??"

Here's a story from Slate referring to the same event:

Great comment nacho. What if Fox's MO is actually to make the other commercial news channels look moderate and intelligent by comparison? Kind of like Ann Coulter's shtick. Maybe CNN is more dangerous than Fox because their corporate loyalties are not as nakedly visible.
