FOX commentator likens Obama's Berlin speech to Hitler rally

This makes me sick, not just because it is GROSSLY insulting to a Presidential candidate but also to the entire nation of Germany. From ThinkProgress.com:

Last night on Fox News’ Special Report, host Brit Hume asked the “All-Star Panel” for “help” in determining whether or not Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) got “a bounce” in the polls as a result of his recent trip to the Middle East and Europe.

Referring to Obama’s Berlin speech that was reportedly in front of more than 200,000 people, neo-conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer said he did not get a bounce because apparently, Americans don’t like it when politicians emulate Adolf Hitler at a Nazi rally:

HUME: Panel, help. Did [Obama] get a bounce from the trip or not? […]

KRAUTHAMMER: I’m not sure — I don’t think he got a bounce. I’m not sure it was his intention. You don’t get a bounce out of standing in front of 200,000 Germans at a rally who are chanting your name. Bad vibes sometimes, historically.

Excerpt from the Obamessiah's speech:

I know my country has not perfected itself. At times, we’ve struggled to keep the promise of liberty and equality for all of our people. We’ve made our share of mistakes, and there are times when our actions around the world have not lived up to our best intentions.

Apologizing for the USA not being perfect...to Germany. GERMANY!

Does he think Germany is one of the 57 US states?

Am I missing something obvious? A U.S. state is any one of the fifty subnational entities of the United States that share sovereignty with the federal government (four states use the official title of commonwealth rather than state). QM, which are the 57 states?

In regards to the Germany = Nazi/Hitler argument. Don't be such a tool. Germany is somewhat adamant about removing any trace of Nazism even to the point of potential absurdity (the link is an example of a person being fined for selling anti-Nazi T-shirts). When the entire living population that had anything to do with the atrocities of WW2 have died (for the most part), at what point do you stop pointing the finger? Also, I might add the absurd irony of comparing Obama to a Hitler-like figure. How is this comparison even remotely true?

Do you really want to go down that road? The United States is responsible for the biggest acts of mass murder in the history of man.

It's history, most of the people who participated are now dead. Recently however there's been a lot for the US to apologise for. Next thing you know Obama will say something in Rome and Quantum will be screaming about the massacre of Carthage.

1. Unintentionally creating conditions that allow Iraqis to kill each other in a civil war is not the same as murdering them.

2. The deaths resulting from the US invasion of Iraq (as high as 1.2 million?) are far from the number of deaths resulting from WW2 (72 million).

You couldn't be further from the truth.

Congo Free State: 8,000,000
Russian Civil War: 9,000,000
Nazi Camps: 12,000,000
USSR under Stalin: 20,000,000
Mongol conquests: 29,000,000
China under Mao Zedong: 40,000,000

...just to name a few.

I'm pretty sure Jon Stewart riffed off the same idea yesterday. No outrage for that?

Daily Show is a spoof an American news broadcasting. He's paid to be funny and not serious. The FOX channel's so called "expert pundits"/reporters are supposed to be truthful and "fair and balanced" as they call themselves.

Europe. EUROPE. He was in Germany, but Germany is in Europe. The majority of his speech was clearly directed to Europe (when it wasn't addressed to the world).

A powerful argument. *cough.*

Yeah, big deal. Whether told to worship the swastika or ban it, the good Germans blindly obey authority. Americas own PC nazis would love that level of mute obedience.

When the entire living population that had anything to do with the atrocities of WW2 have died (for the most part), at what point do you stop pointing the finger?

Never. Let's take a cue from liberals, who have been whining about American slavery (a worldwide phenomenon still going on in some parts of the globe) that seems to have ended in the USA some time ago. Don't worry, you can always fall back on "racism" and "imperialism" when you need to America-bash.

Also, I might add the absurd irony of comparing Obama to a Hitler-like figure. How is this comparison even remotely true?

Liberals have absolutely no sense of humor when it comes to threats to their power trips. Unfortunately, B. Hussein Obamessiah is not universally adored. Krauthammer's subtle jab is smoother and more amusing than daily kos-holes and their "Bush = Hitler" bullshit. If anything, Krauthammer was being sarcastic about Germans' blind obedience.

B. Hussein Obama is a marxist with radical roots and questionable experience. Day by day his ignorarrogance is increasingly exposed. You want "change" without even knowing what he means.

You miss the point. My reference was in regards to Germany attempting measures at preventing past mistakes. What more would you ask of them exactly? Your stance seems to put Germany - including the German people - in a lose-lose situation never able to dig themselves out of the hole created by an organization no longer alive today.

How convenient of you to simultaneously bash an ideology and support it as your own at the same time.

You assume and generalize, all without evidence. A video of a Fox pundit makes a silly comparison that doesn't hold any water, his view is critiqued, somehow in your eyes that makes me a blind and faithful follower of the "Change" campaign. You have no idea what I support, nor is that the point being discussed in this video.

Lies. Damn lies. And statistics.

That first "blip" on the poll for "General Election Matchup" just seems WAAAAY too scewed to show favor towards a candidate who really doesn't appear to be winning ANY poll.

C'mon, what kind of sample size is 791 "likely voters"? Does that even mean these people are REGISTERED voters? And why just 791?

I HATE POLLS! They are not a reflection of people's opinion anymore rather the press's way of telling us what to think. It manipulation.

Lies. Damn lies. And statistics.

Sounds like the assessment of someone who only knows europe through neocon propaganda videos. Boy you have no idea how stupid you sound to people who have more experience in that area (aka all the people who have actually been to europe/germany).
