Cool. I'm pretty sure it's real. They used something similar for the opening ceremony of the '84 olympics in LA.

...I wonder how long they were able to sustain a single flight, what sort of distance, altitude, and speeds they can achieve ...not to mention what kind of mileage they're getting?
(unfortunately, jetpack man’s ride probably isn’t really suited to mass public transportation needs or fuel economy concerns….)
