Epic rally move: How to own the first corner like a boss

Top Gear: Kevin Eriksson drifts around everyone at turn one... and takes the lead

We’ve seen some pretty audacious overtaking moves in our time, but this could top them all.

It comes courtesy of the always-entertaining World Rallycross Championship and a rather ballsy banzai move from Swedish driver, Kevin Eriksson.

Starting on the second row of the final race of the German round, the 20-year-old driver fired his Fiesta off the line and towards turn one. With everyone else taking the inside line, old Kev took a different approach.

Breaking many rules from the Beginner’s Guide To Racing, he took the outside line and bunged his four-wheel-drive hyper hatch into a monster drift. See, in Rallycross, courage and a shed load of horsepower can get you places. Well, in Kevin’s case, first place to be exact.
