BTW, this Texan would have seen this scene upon the doors opening, and immediately began stomping the strangler in the skull. Upon finding out it was a joke, I would have begun stamping on the other guy's head for having encouraged an assault and taken both their wallets (id's)...pulled the emergency stop on the elevator before disappearing from the building.

I was assuming from the items and décor that these people were travelling home. You don't even need a CHL in Texas to carry a gun in that situation.

I'm from Texas, and consider it a perfectly reasonable response to shoot someone committing a violent crime with a melee weapon instead of walking up to them. Detain them? The cops can do that if he lives. They get paid to get within arms reach of ya-hoos who try to strangle people.

Private building, and you shoot someone in a public elevator-I dunno man, I'm pretty sure they'd throw a fat stack of "the books" at you-You'd need a really good lawyer-That's a tricky one...You would have been within your rights to carry the weapon but not to use it in that particular situation-There would have been no immediate threat to your personal safety.

My gut feeling is that the "witnesses" in this are actors too. This is a viral video with the tag for a movie (hitting theaters today, btw...) at the end. I would think that pulling a stunt like this with real unsuspecting citizens would result in actual heart attacks, physical injuries, assaults upon one or more of the actors, plus numerous calls to the police. I believe that every aspect of this is staged.
