She may have had some small eye tics that he was watching. Would not want to play poker with him.

He repeatedly grabbed her by the wrists and moved her around, I surmise that the relative stiffness of her arms/wrists is how he got most of his information.

I still vote that she's an accomplice. Just like Copperfield's "make the space shuttle disappear" had the entire audience lying participating in the illusion.

Nobody can cold read tells that subtle...they're simply not that consistent across the population. It takes time to study your target in repeated situations to see what the various twitches actually mean.

Hypnotists use light touches like that to gauge susceptibility to subtle forms of suggestion and to help cue up certain decisions and reactions. It's just as likely he was trying to suggest which hand to put it in.
