That's really sad. The poor guy is totally freaked out. He's either in the middle of some psychotic episode (read paranoid-schizophrenia), or he's trying to pull some kind of Andy Kaufman stunt. I think it's probably the former.

Best clip in David Letterman history. I had almost forgotten how fun DL was back then. I remember when this one aired. It caused a bit of a stir.

Well, if that's acting, I can say that it could've fooled me. Brilliant if acting, bit sad if not.

That's awesome. Man... nowadays the audience would totally be in on the whole joke, and even the hosts would play it up if it went that way. Asking Paul if 'He's ever seen a guy drowning or dying this bad?' is just mean. DL has always been a total dick, though. I guess that's what makes the show.
