Is it just me, or does he sound a lot like Agent Smith from the Matrix films? I wonder if that was intentional...

To me it sounds like if he has a bit too much saliva in his mouth at all times.

I just did a google search and it seems that I'm far from the first person to make the Carl Sagan / Agent Smith comparison. It's quite likely that it was an intentional homage.
