HaricotVertsays...Everyone knows katanas are magical! Because I watch anime and anime is real!

EMPIREsays...Yeah... so compare the force he had to use to actually cut it. A Katana slices it much easily. Of course One could say the sword was blunt... but still...
bigbikemansays...Jesus. Tomatoes, watermelons, and now tatami mats. I phear renaissance festival-types.
garshsays...
obscenesimiansays...The point is that a tatami mat is not a good judge of a swords effectiveness. Remember it was dull, not sharp. Let's not all buy in to the "magic" of the Katana.
skfortysays...yes...different things CAN cut the same things. That guy had to use WAY more force than if he had used a katana. Katana is sharper. Its not magic.
Chaucersays...I'm sure he'd have to use less force if the longsword was actually sharp.
budzossays...I just found out one of my childhood buddies is now a ren-faire guy. I don't get it, but I suppose I'll have to learn to respect it.
Somehow.
phelixiansays...I'll take watered-steel sharpened over dull iron any day.
That guy seemed a little too excited when he was rubbing his um.. blade.
NordlichReitersays...Ok so lets just say that any weapon I can use is much better than any one not having a weapon. Listen people! It is not about the weapon it is about the skill that uses the weapon. Even a calligraphic pen is can still be used as an effective weapon. There is no magic behind any weapon, they are all barbaric and destructive but we as humans find them extremley interesting.
