Bill O'Reilly Attacks Veteran Reporter Helen Thomas

"Except for that, what's her name? The old lady, Helen Thomas."
burdturglersays...

Wikipedia:
"On February 9, 2009 Thomas was present in the front row for newly elected President Obama's news conference regarding the federal bailout bill. President Obama called on her with the statement "Helen. I'm excited, this is my inaugural moment." This was seemingly a reference to her long-term presence in the White House Press Corps. She asked the new president if any Middle Eastern country possessed nuclear weapons and whether Pakistan and Afghanistan were havens for terrorists."

I like how he says "With all due respect to Helen Thomas" .. while proceeding to show his complete disrespect and contempt for her.

The question she asked was, "Do you think Pakistan is maintaining safe havens for these so-called terrorists?" She garbled it a bit, but the meaning is clear. Are there elements in the Pakistani government that are actively supporting the Taleban? The answer is obvious, and everyone knows it, but it is an incredibly tricky thing for the President to answer, because while we need to pressure Pakistan to stop doing that, we also don't want to destabilize such a fragile government.

Her second question, "Do you know of any country in the middle east that has nuclear weapons?" was worth criticizing. But, of course, there's no chance BillO or anyone would touch that with a ten foot pole.

Liberals mock Palin for being a woman.

Liberals mocked McCain for being old.

But this is they find "offensive".

I don't remember anyone mocking her for being a woman. Completely ignorant, yes, but not for being a woman.

Liberals mocked McCain for being old.

Given that he was running for POTUS, his age was a valid topic of discussion. The only mocking I remember was from Leno, but he makes fun of everyone.

But this is they find "offensive".

What was offensive was the inanity of it. Why couldn't he focus on something useful, as I noted above?

It's not worth it to try to separate what constitutes an 'attack' from 'satire'. It's shocking enough to the left that not everyone agrees with them.

You could ask the same thing of Stewart, Colbert, Olbyloon, Maddow and even Colmes, who still doesn't know he died of natural causes in 1993.

(And Goldberg FTW).
