Best Crash Tests Ever - Sausages and other national edibles

Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag.(show it anyway)

I say giant things. I think when you crash small objects, the physics look different, or they deform in a different way then the actual sized object. Hard to say why - but my brain knows these are big objects.

So....
1. The sausage is a bavarian (=>german) "weißwurst", it symbolizes bavarian car maker BMW
2. The sushi stands for Toyota, they´re becoming a tough competitior in germany
3. The wasa, just like gupo says, stands for Volvo cars of sweden.
4. The white bread obviously stands for Renault of France ;-)

And to finish the translation krupo started:
The last sentence says "the only car brand with 8 cars scoring 5 points at the NCAP crash test".

...and a comment by a auto-enthusiast from germany: The only reason why Renault has more cars with a 5 point scoring is that germans to not like the beeping noise that sounds if you don´t put on your seatbelt that HAS to be included in order to gain 5 points. So the german brands leave that away, i still would prefer to crash in a Mercedes rather than in any Renault ;-)

Kruposays...

Oh man, is THAT why they include that beeping sound? I love my car but hate that sound.

I mean, I drive all the time with the belt on, but take it off when pulling into the garage, for example. I don't need to be told my belt is off!

I have newfound respect for the Germans.

deathcowsays...

I owned a Renault, it was the cheapest constructed car I ever owned.

I agree with you on the giant objects, Dag. Small object physics do get weird, it was a little disappointing in Two Towers when they busted Saruman's dam on the hill, looked so fake. Making small water behave realistically must be damn near impossible.

Voronwesays...

I'm still wondering if the Sushi resembles a "bad smiley" [ ] by cause or by accident...

I say small things: the parts flying away from the "crashing stuff" are too big, especially the wasa bread (Knäckebrot) should have exploded into a cloud of dust.

Whitesays...

btw deathcow, i thought the dam bursting in the Two Towers was very realistic. I found out on IMDB that Peter Jackson's crew actually researched what a dam breaking looks like, and made it as realistic as possible.

...just FYI.

Ivegotthebendssays...

Definitely agree that these are small things because of the force at which the food stuff exploded compared to the speed that the equipment was moving at. (PS, don't know a lot about physics, so maybe this isn't a correct assumption.)
