Ayrton Senna's footwork

Ayrton Senna takes an NSX around Suzuka, and we get to watch his feet.
It's interesting to compare his throttle technique with that of Schumacher, as seen here:

A clear close up of the heel toe technique, as preformed by another driver, can be found here:

His footwork looks rather clean and controlled, very polished.

Personally, I prefer the more chaotic approach where they don't keep their left foot on the clutch at all times, but rather switch between left-foot-braking and the heel-and-toe-technique. An example, of course, would be the onboard madness from Walter Roehrl, driving an Audi Quattro in the early '80s. Ignore the cheesy music and watch the insanity at 1:12-1:22 amongst others.

yeah I switch between left foot clutch and brake , It would depend on the typ of car as to wether it was needed.

also i would have thought a more analogue accelerator technique would produce faster lap times compared to pumping the accelerator, having said that its probably to do with engin torqu so its better to over power with a big dab and corect it though stearing than to try and give gradual consistent throtel as u go though the corner.

kulpims, if u like need for speed shift you should try , Rfactor, Gtr evo , Netcar pro , and I racing .

Gtr evo and Rfactor have far more realistic physics and grip than NFS shift.

on the track a more reserved style of footwork is best. in rally you need to power-slide and a more aggressive style is definitely the way to go. love the WR clip by the way

That guy was a fucking great driver. RIP

What looked like double clutching in the beginning was a missed 4-5 shift I believe. The NSX has a synchronized gearbox.

A friend of mine does the throttle pumping as a way to tease the envelope and make sure 100% of traction is being used, and to get the car to rotate if it's understeering. I can't get it to work for me.

I can't imagine the reflexes you'd need to do that in an F1 car. The NSX is a squishy dog by comparison.
