I think this implies that the United States is incompetent or bumbling. I'm sure you can point to several examples where they have been. I also think you can point to many more examples where they have actively and knowingly fucked up the Middle East because of a particular strategic reason.

Don't let war criminals off the hook because people are more accepting of the arguments of a bungling government than a nefarious one.

I keep seeking comfort in the knowledge that there is no statue of limitations on war crimes. Even a decade or two from now, we could, in theory, decide to live up to our own standards, and prosecute those who committed them.

It's not a great dream, but it's about all that's left.

In a couple years the rich will be fleeing the country. We might be able to use that opportunity to turn towards retired politicians as well.

Do you honestly believe that? In a couple of years, the rich will still be rich and living quite comfortably in the U.S.A.

Meanwhile the US politicians agreeing to send the weapons to these other rogue states are getting paid by the companies producing the weapons, and/or accepting positions with them after government.

The US government is rotten to the core and many countries, my own included, are trying their best to get in on the corrupt, rotten action.
