Another example of goverment waste: plowing invisible snow

Effective snow removal! City workers at the their best. Wasting taxpayers money and damaging sidewalks!

Looks to me like they are getting used to doing the route they will have when it does snow. And since they can see what they are doing now, it's a great time to practice and find where there are problems you should make note of when you can't see the sidewalk. Like, chunks of sidewalk that are heaved up or what not.

another EXAMPLE of GOVERNMENT WASTE!!!!
anytime I hear a brainwashed lapdog spout that I shake my head

if you want to look for waste? stop looking at the local/department level where there is more oversight than in the PRIVATE sector

and start looking at things like defense spending, tax cuts for the rich, subsidies for big oil, etc etc

the whole government waste at the local level is corporate fed propaganda devised to reduce funding to government service so that they can point the finger and go look at how crappy it is, only private enterprise can do this right! and then they come in to MAKE MONEY on something that was previously UNPROFITABLE and WASTEFUL; and where does that money come from? the poor/lacking quality of service and government subsidy

firefighters watching a house burn down, watching someone drown, etc...
police deciding to respond to fewer criminal calls and focus more on traffic violations...
overpriced healthcare costs for low quality return

these are all the effects of privatization
privatization NEVER has a social conscience... its all about profit, margins, and share prices
quality of care doesn't make the top 10
especially when these interests can buy the lawmakers to give them effective monopolies

you want a healthy, strong society... and not a society of wage slaves? start caring for each other more than you care about the unobtainable dream of being rich... and realize, money's goals rarely align with being humane (call it Christian, call it Muslim, whatever values)

people are your brother's and sisters, not Wal-mart, not Wall Street, and not the politicians who represent you but make 30x more than the median income in your country

you aren't being represented if you next door neighbor has no chance to become an elected representative, because they can raise a few million dollars to run (billions now-a-days to get to the highest levels of power)

you'd think in this day and age of internet and smartdevices, that we'd have the medium to EASILY do away with the problems of campaign financing (we do)...

but don't worry, the rich are getting SOPA in place to ensure content they don't want out there, isn't

You are a tool if you are under the guise this is training, if this was training they would be in their quad cab ford trucks, with driver and tim hortons coffee in hand, driving out the route prior to driving it while actually in the machine, in fact they would drive it for 3 days probably.

If they have the blades dropped and scratching up the pavement like they are they are "doing the job" not training.

This seems to me TO BE A COMPLETE WASTE, yes its true people this shit does happen, and how do they justify their budget ? by going out when there is no snow and dropping blades onto the pavement. Why ? because if they do not use up their budget they will more then likely not get the same budget next year.

This is just some asshats justifying their job by going out on the superiors orders.

There couldn't be a corrupt local gov't this bad just racking up overtime hours by plowing imaginary snow. All I can think is that they are doing the router before 2 feet of snow to check for any obstructions or areas that are too narrow or might damage the plow or property.

The other thought is that they might have put accurate GPS trackers on them and they are mapping out the streets for ability to replay the route in the snow. But in reality I can understand why they are ruining the plows and concrete scraping them up.

Well I hope people don't start complaining of waste when the salt trucks are driving their routes for practice and familiarization or early salting/treating bridges just in case of low temps.

But what's seen in this video is probably training and them checking clearances and issues. Like people's leaning walls or trees, or other obstructions they will need cleared to make it possible to plow the sidewalks. And complaining about their blades down on the sidewalk one day of non-snow when they plow the hell out of them basically blind when snow does fall is just stupid.

Unless they are doing this on a weekend, I doubt they are getting overtime while the sun is out given the kind of daylight hours we're seeing now.

And it's just as likely they are running the machines and routes in daytime so people can see their presence and see how much room they need to clear the sidewalks when snow does come. I doubt they want to plow and dodge trashcans, cars and whatever else come bad weather. Too many people lose their minds when they encounter something new in familiar areas....such as construction on familiar roads.
