After Earth Trailer #2

2nd Trailer for After Earth. I was initially pretty indifferent towards this movie, but this trailer has increased my interest. It helped that the beginning of the trailer had music from Deus Ex Human Revolution.

Funny, M. Night Shyamalan's name is nowhere to be found on this trailer.

I can't imagine why that would be the case. Maybe it's because he sinks ships worse than a gigantic iceberg and in the case of the trailer I think I found the tip:

"IT..HAS..FOUND..YOU."

Only a thousand years have passed and "everything has evolved to kill humans"? I'm not usually picky about stuff like this (I loved "Prometheus"), but the back-story can't insult my intelligence if you want me to suspend disbelief for two hours. Adding a couple (or three) more zeroes couldn't have been that hard.

I've never seen a movie with Jaden Smith, or an interview with Jaden Smith, or read or seen anything that even remotely reveals to me his abilities as an actor, or what kind of human being he is. Why do I hate his guts?

It's Will Smith and son, Fletch.....Daddys' grooming his no-actin' son to take over the Smith legacy for future generations of popcorn-slammin' entertainment junkies.

He looks to be shaping-up in the fine tradition of the Will Smith, uni-dimensional school of acting.

If Keneau Reeves were black (and had a personality), he might still be making movies, too!

And you don't think Prometheus's back story insulted your intelligence? With its complete disregard for evolution and the common ancestry of humans with all other animals on this planet? Not to mention all the other stupid, neglectful, lazy inconsistencies and absurdities? No doubt you're going to love this movie then.

Just saw this. definitely not a stellar movie...it is a little bland and straightforward. The nepotism for Jaden is clear.

It's not a horrible movie though. Since it is so Jaden-centric, you could definitely argue the movie is really meant for kids and not for the grownups.

I think the internet has decided that it is cool to rag on M. Night Shaymalan so even if he makes a merely ok movie, it's still going to be panned.

This is an okay movie. Not great, but not bad either.

I personally liked the little details. There was an obvious effort to speak in a different accent since after 1000 years on a different planet, we are not going to talk with the same accents we do now. I liked the distinct look of their technology and that everything had an organic, "grown" feel to it. The bits of military slang that had evolved to mean more than their original meaning. It's the little bits of details like that which made this movie enjoyable for me.
