Campaign Finance Reform, Crowdfunded

From YT: Political activist and founder of Creative Commons, Lawrence Lessig, outlines a plan to end the influence of SuperPACs, perhaps ironically, by creating a SuperPAC: MayOne.us

Pledges made to MayOne will only be spent if its crowdfunding goals are met. And not a single dollar will be spent on overhead costs.

Another misguided attempt. There is no "democracy" possible as long as there is a state. Lessig might as well set up a fund to buy beach-front property in Arizona. He has a track record of failure, though. Whatever happened to his copyright reforms?

He's definitely got a quixotic bent. Doesn't mean his goals aren't worth pursuing, but I have very little hope his methods will work.

So he wants to challenge the 1% influence with his influence. That's not good.

If he supported backing individuals that followed the Constitution and hence bring back balance to the government then ok.

We don't live in a democracy we live in a Republic. Big difference.

Moving this video to erlanter's personal queue. It failed to receive enough votes to get sifted up to the front page within 2 days.

He supports your voice having more weight regardless the cause, be it the end of the state, following the Constitution, or whatever. Lessig is a lefty but the PAC is designed to give any influential politician, party-be-damned, incentive to fight the influence of money in politics.

When only money is heard in Washington, I'll take any hope I can get. If I'm too partisan to rally behind the cause of my own voice, there really is no reason for politicians to listen.
