Zero Punctuation: Call of Duty: Black Ops

steroidg says...

I think the thing that annoy me the most about COD:BO's single player is how detached I felt from the character I was playing. Mainly because of the fact that he has a very generic voice and face. I'd rather play a silent protagonist unless I'm playing some over the top character like Duke Nukem. The fact that most cut scenes takes control off my hand or goes to a 3rd person cinematic view doesn't help immersion either.

It's definitely an improvement over COD5, but it's not as good as MW2 and far from MW1.

But from what I've seen they've greatly improved since then... at least their products have, if not their support.

Nope, their support didn't improve at all. They said that the reason they failed to repair my motherboard and won't try again is because of my misuse but wouldn't say what I did wrong. That happened about a year ago.

Clever Microsoft ad

steroidg says...

Perhaps I'm just thick, but I can't find anything in this ad that shows how is this phone better than any other phone. All it has is some guy claiming it's designed to work in a mysterious way! Just how is this ad clever? I dislike apple as much as Microsoft, but they sure do have better ads.

Minecraft Enterprise NCC-1701-A Walk Around

OSX?! Why in Q's name would the enterprise run a proprietary OS? It's pretty much against the practice and philosophy of Star Trek. I never heard anyone calling up tech support for a computer bug. You fix it your self, and the only way to do it is open source.

Only idiots will correct people on pronunciation of brand names that the company insists on. Most of my techie contacts in computer hardware wholesale or retail call it "Ay-sus", the way it's called since it... forever. Only the idiot sales and marketing people insists that it's called "Ah-soos". Similar things occurs with "SuSE linux" and "Ubuntu linux".

I am unfamiliar with the two films mentioned and look forward to seeing then. He has done some of the most beautiful films. Curse of the Golden Flower and House of Flying Daggers are stunning.

If you were looking for things similar to "Curse of the Golden Flower" in the 3 movies I named, then you'll probably be disappointed as they are very different. To me, Zhang Yi Mou is much better at depicting characters than big fighting scenes (though I think his direction of the Beijing Olympic opening was awesome).

"House of the flying dagger" and "Curse of the golden flower" were just too superficial for my taste. Sure they have pretty pictures and actors, but they lack the essence of humanity that's present in his other movies.

Another one of my favorite movies of his: "No one less" is terribly slow and uneventful from the first glance, but at a certain moment in the movie, the viewer couldn't help but to feel the raw emotional connection with one of the main characters, and I literally couldn't hold back my tears. It's the only moment in the movie that makes you feel that way, and it only last a few seconds... but it's all worthy.

I find it funny that there's no one mention of Zhang Yi Mou in the tags of this video, him being the director and all . I guess being in Australia, we didn't need Tarantino's support to get a release.

It's good, but hardly the best of Zhang's movies. I find "To live", "Red Sorghum" and "Riding Alone for Thousands of Miles" to be his best works.
