Real-life Iron Man suit is better than the real thing

Seattle Hipster Racism Meets Cool Cop

longde says...

When I was in college, I would hang out with "my boys". A close buddy would be called "my boy". A popular song in my younger days was "The boys are back in town".

The women I know refer to themselves as girls do so not because they see themselves in a subservient position, but because they simply want to feel younger. I don't see anything sexist about that.

Even if it was sexist, it isn't ironic. There have been many feminists who were/are racists, and many people who fight racism who are/have been sexist. They are two completely different concepts, and one does not imply or exclude the other.

@chilaxe, What is this inferiority complex you have against black men? Did some black man steal some girl you liked? Did some kid beat you up after school? Did some thug steal your car? Or do you have yearnings you can't fulfill?

Frankly, I don't have time to teach you statistics or probability. Suffice to say that the paragraph you posted is full of fallacious uses of both. If this drivel were submitted to me, I would give the writer an "F", based on the math alone. For you, someone who claims to use statistics in his job, to trust this sophistry, makes me question your credentials.

You are the only one making light of your friend's assault. You are the one using your friend's experience to peddle your racist theories. I don't see how she is more safe by avoiding all black men. Using your fucked up reasoning, the AG of California or the President of the US is 1200% more likely to murder your friend or take their iphone.

No evidence that sharia is becoming accepted in the US. What city/county/state uses it?>> ^lantern53:

Doesn't this fly in the face of sharia, which is becoming more and more accepted in the US? How can we respect other religions and their customs while prosecuting the men who are allowed to rape and beat their wives?

About a month ago, a buddy and I were in Beijing going to a bar on a Saturday evening. In the subway station, we spotted a middle/upper class couple get into a heated argument. All of a sudden, the boyfriend (with significant height and weight advantage over the girl, a typical petite chinese girl) started violently laying hard punches on the girl. I mean, the type of punches you would only expect to lay on a guy. It was disgusting to watch.

My friend was so enraged, she started yelling at the guy and calling him trash. For a minute, I thought I was going to have to fight that night. But when she threatened to call the police, the couple left.

So yeah, I guess you have to watch what types of people/cultures you hang around. Even though this was a picturesque chinese couple; and the girl obviously knew the guy. And you have to watch what neighborhoods you walk through. Even though we were in a wealthy part of town.

Thanks for the lessons @chilaxe.

edit: If your friend comes to videosift to see your educational video, make sure she searches for "punch girl" and "cunt punch" so she can take notes on who to avoid.

So Is America/Israel/Etc... Going Into Iran? (Military Talk Post)

Romney has had a long personal relationship with Netanyahu, while Obama can't stand the guy. Under Romney, the Israeli's would be more likely to attack Iran, drawing us in.

I think that to tilt the elections, the Israelis may unilaterally attack in September.

African Men. Hollywood Stereotypes.

It just seems like you have an ax to grind with africans, and your last comments show it.

African people aren't violent warlords; but they are homophobic, dogmatic, and patently dishonest. I get it. Thanks for your contributions to this anti-stereotyping video.

Who doesn't try to put themselves in the best light? British people, atheists, and gay people -three of the most moral peoples on the planet -never do that. >> ^Deano:

I'd rather like to see you in Nairobi in their faces patronizingly asking them about their personal beliefs.

I'd be quite happy to. Though I don't see why it would have to be patronising. If you want to have an honest dialogue then those matters are going to come up and everyone should be willing to discuss them.
It would make a change from my experience in London where it's quite the opposite way around. I often encounter Nigerians who are often more than comfortable sharing their views about religion and not so subtle opinions about homosexuality. They tend to be women due to the sector I'm in and one was so pushy as to wonder what I did on a Sunday if I didn't go to church. And then followed it with "Are you gay?" She was blissfully unaware that she was putting herself in disciplinary trouble. She just didn't care.
My mate used to work at the passport office here in London which was the centre of quite a few heated political disputes in the last few years. The workforce included a bunch of really nice African guys but dodgy as hell and always pulling some scam.
This is, in my view, definitely a cultural difference. My friend is a straight arrow, very reliable and honest so the contrast between him and others (hell even myself as I like to cut corners sometimes) is more pronounced. In another country some of those behaviours (including racial bullying and generally taking the piss) might be fine but here not so much. The problem with the passport office is that they lacked leadership and strong management so everyone ran amok.
So getting back to the video, yes it's nice to challenge stereotypes but let's remove the rose-tinted spectacles at the same time. I'm sure these chaps are as super nice as they are depicted, but it IS a depiction designed to promote a charitable cause. Everyone has prejudices and blind spots, everyone can and will be an arsehole. Even after you strip away the stereotype you can't get rid of that.

Black Woman Convicted Despite "Stand Your Ground" Law

longde says...

@chilaxe , I don't see any hostility in my post. I supported my assertions with a full study and a news article; finally concluding that in the face of such data, your claims about the jury composition have little weight.

As always, I'm hostile towards your flawed logic and questionable conclusions, not you personally.
