Workers of the World Relax
>> ^bcglorf:
Working less and consuming less is an option open to most people in capitalist countries. The people choose instead to work more and consume more.
There are really only 2 situations were people seem to reduce their consumption, in a recession or when they are made to do so by force. Neither has ever been improvement.
"Neither has ever been improvement" you say? Since the recent recession, gallup polls show Americans to be healthier and happier. Also, there are examples of high paid workers who have been forced to reduce their work week. Most oppose such measures at first, yet when offered the chance to return to their original work week, few take the increase in pay and hours.

Very Bright Professor'sPresentation On Taking Back Democracy
Lessig's focus on corruption has taken a couple years to come into being, and it's clearer to me now what a great task he's taken on. I hope that he is able to build a movement around anti-corruption.
