What she did is termed freeclimbing, ie. not using anything other than your limbs in contact with the rock to get up. You meant soloing, ie. no rope.

It leaves me wondering when Sagan first uttered those timeless words, 'corrosive flatulence'.

It's a little complicated, because aluminum is also a good conductor (ie. low electrical resistance). To keep the coil from overheating, these induction forge rigs have water hoses that circulate cold water through the copper coil. >> ^Ornthoron:

Copper is a better conductor than aluminium.
