I believe it's also a defense mechanism used against predators approaching from above. It rolls onto its back to get its claws into whatever is swooping down onto it. I saw footage of a hawk doing something similar against another hawk on a Discovery channel program.

Cheers Intro

Ivegotthebends says...

I remember a student's father played this song at one of our assemblies in the gymnasium. It was a full length song, not just the short jingle. Seems like an odd choice of song for an elementary assembly now that I think of it.
I remember he also played God Bless America. I hate that God damn song...pun fully intended.

The journey of the Mars Rovers

Ivegotthebends says...

This isn't entirely realistic as the rover is moving way to fast compared to its actual top speed, but it's still cool.
What is the Ben Harper song playing after the rover emerges from it's cocoon? It would be fitting if it was off of Welcome to the Cruel World.

Bill Nye Sets the Record Straight on Astrology

Ivegotthebends says...

Loved Bill Nye when I was a kid. I remember reading an interview of him and he claimed to only drink Land O' Lakes milk because the graphic on it represented infinity. There's a more specific term for it, where a picture repeats itself inside of a picture and conceivably goes on forever like that...which reminds me of a crazy dream I had when I was twelve...anyway, does anybody know what that's called?
Here's a better example of what I mean: When you point a camera at the monitor broadcasting the signal, it creates an endless image. What is it called?
