Hawthorne, CA Cop murdered a pet

I don't wish for anything but for you to stop being all angsty. You are missing the whole point in that I do not interpret the video in the same way as the press release, therefore I do not agree with you. It's okay. Life goes on, snarky ass comments and all. On the other hand, I think your tone is douchey and condescending in nature, even though I can see the good points you are making through that but that's just my opinion, and I'm probably tired and oversensitive to the fact that this is an upsettting fucking video. I'm out.

You're missing the whole point. You are intent on this idea that the cops are are to blame in any way for this. They are not. They did not bring the dog, they did not fail to restrain the dog. They did not place the dog in a situation where the dog became aggressively defensive. The owner of the dog did all of these things. The points you "conceded" were never points I was arguing. The cops will not be "in a shitload of trouble" because they acted in the best interest of their safety.

If you wish me to stop being all "he wins the internet" then stop being a snarky ass and declaring that I "win" when I moderately challenge you by presenting evidence (or rather mxxcon does) that confirms the exact shit I just said.

And @arekin, I did concede or clarify myself on some things that we agreed upon, but you seem to be reading right past those things. I'm not against you, but just not in agreement on your arguments and the manner in which you state them.

These cops are in a shitload of trouble, whether you are the weiner or not! Get over yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats on editing the first post to "not have me win" after declaring me the winner. And yes, despite your reversal of my victory, I still stated exactly what had obviously happened in this video, only to be verified by what the press release said. The only people who want to continue to say "nu uhh" are people who are denying the obvious (not unlike yourself).

And excuses is what you keep making for the cops, and this did not have to happen imo, so let's just agree to disagree.

arekin said:

Any way that this resulted in a officer looking at a mouth full of dog teeth was justified ending the same way. You say the cops have an obligation to keep the pet alive? I say the cops have an obligation to keep themselves and other people alive first.

If the guy had walked into the house where the armed suspects were to get his video footage, would you have thought he crossed the line? Their were numerous other people around who understood the idea of acceptable distance, and one guy who did not. No amount of excuse can justify that.

Also caps work better if you are making a point with them.

I did not say anyone was blaming the dog. Not saying the owner has no blame either. I just expect more from the cops, which I guess is my own problem. The guy did not seemed to be crossed over any physical police line, and of course the press release is going to favor whatever spin the police give it. Yes, I agree the guy was an idiot for walking his dog to his death, but I am thinking the cops could have handled it differently that this did not have to happen. I CAN TYPE IN ALL CAPS TOO!

arekin said:

And if the guy had, maybe, stopped trying to get into their business, the cops would have left him alone, just like the other people around. You insist on blaming the cops and don't seem to think for a minute that the pet owner was to blame. Lets get this straight, NO ONE IS BLAMING THE DOG.

Anything to have avoided the dog jumping out of the car, yes. Probably would have been wise to avoid this bullshit and get back to the real situation at hand, but yeah I am biased on behalf of an innocent dog getting slaughtered, so give me a fucking break.

arekin said:

So the cops should have rolled up the car windows for the guy and made sure their police perimeter was farther from the guy causing problems? I'm sure you also think that cops should have waited until the dog was chewing on one of them before accepting that the 80lb dog might be dangerous.

Not because it's cool, but because one would think police would know better how to handle themselves and the "dumb people" without it resulting in this awful tragedy. Whatever.

arekin said:

So much no, this was irresponsible pet owner who was very close to a police raid (as is obviously evident by the number of cars and the assault weapon that is clearly visible around 3:00). The police are detaining him likely until they can ensure that he is not attempting to cause problems. Notice how the guys across the street from the guy being detained were fine continuing to record, were allowed to take the video away (despite showing a cop shooting a dog).

The dog did not deserve to be placed in a situation. But with your argument, if I saw a friend getting arrested I am entitled to charge cops and not get tazed or shot? To hell with that. But you know, its cool to blame cops whenever people do something dumb, illegal, or dangerous. Its cool to give them a hard time when they are trying to do their job and you know, protect someone.
