Flippy the Burger Flipping Robot at CaliBurger Pasadena

Esoog says...

Not as advanced as I was hoping. But I'm sure they will get there. He said it cooks now based on time. I'd rather it maybe use infrared to detect temps. Or insert a temp probe. I'd like to see it do the toppings. I think that is where most mistakes are made. Cooked to order doesn't always come out as ordered.

The Truth About Wireless Charging

Esoog says...

I agree. It explains the inefficiency (for now) of inductive charging that most people don't realize, and that at the current technology, the more it grows, the more burden it will have on the current grids.

Not really, no.

It simply reveals that there is a hidden cost to wireless charging that most people are unaware of.

The Engineering of the Drinking Bird

Esoog says...

When I was in high school, my 11th grade science teacher challenged us for extra credit to explain how the drinking bird worked. My stepmother was a teacher at another school so she hooked me up with their science teachers. Three of them could not explain this toy. The closest they came was Boyle's law. I never got that extra credit, and no one else did either. Damn bird.

The Stone Age Tribe on a Banned Island You Can't Visit

Esoog says...

Fascinating. They've lived there for an unknown hundreds of years. And are hostile to any outsiders. One estimate was 40 people live on the island? What about inbreeding? It looks like a fair number of children in the videos.

I think we should parachute some cameras in. Park some drones in some trees for observation. (kidding...but not kidding)

I'm really disappointed that this short video didn't explain why the water is so hot. Not even a hint at an explanation.

Guess I'll have to watch the TED Talk now.
