Lucky YOU! What a wonderful story and an even better very beautiful memory. I think it says a lot about someone when the attachment to an animal companion is that deep. Congratulations you good person you

How attached are cats to their owners?

Darkhand says...

Totally agree

I've watched that related video and it's just bunk imo. When I used to leave my cat she was very lonely and would look for me.

I was gone for years and she stopped sleeping in my room. The FIRST night I went back to my parents house she came back downstairs and slept with me.

I was _never_ the provider of resources my mom always fed her even when I was home. But she always came to me.

I was either a parent, a brother, or a friend. But whichever I was I was so very happy to have her in my life. I miss her every day

To you and to anyone who upvoted this I don't believe you have a fundamental grasp on how religion works.

Look its fine if you want to pretend that people who worship something are just being fools because "statistics say" whatever. But at least have a good understanding of what makes the believers tick first.

I am not a religion person and I am sure there are probably not a lot of them on this site. But I would rather not see people diversify themselves from part of the population.

Religion is a necessary tool in a lot of places and we should not be so dismissive.

After all isn't there enough of that already in this world? Division?

If we lose a shared perspective on tomorrow what then?

You would think the fact that prayer can be rigorously shown to have no impact on survival after a natural disaster or surgery would at least put an end to the idea of divine intervention from prayer. But to believers, personal anecdotes relayed by like minded adherents always trump statistics. After all, scientists and mathematicians are all godless tools of the devil.

Exactly

That's what I was thinking. I agree with all the arguments people in this thread have made, that abortion is a good thing and that more people should fight for a woman's right to make their own choices about their body.

But I can't help but feel they're all missing the point. You're absolutely right, he hasn't thought about it because it's completely irrelevant to his reasons for wanting the bill.

Twist it round a little bit and imagine they were talking about actual murder of grown up people, and bringing in a law to stop it. The reporter asks the bill's sponsor if they've thought about why the murderer wants to murder. It would seem like a ridiculous question. What difference does it make? Killing people is wrong and you shouldn't be allowed to do it, regardless of how much you might want to.

Obviously that's a hypothetical situation, but from the republican/christian point of view it's an identical argument. The question is irrelevant.

I'm confused why is this statement such a big deal?

It's against his religion so why would he bother trying to figure out why someone would want to do it?
