Honestly, sounds like this person needs to bash other people's religion in a weak attempt to shore up his sadly, lacking, religious philosphy. Yes, even 'Atheist' have a religion (whether they can admit it or not).

Another way of seeing this, would be, a fundementalist Christian, bashing The Theory of Evolution in favor of Creationism.

Maybe folks back in the really old days (read: ancient times), people did, as a custom, eat that peice of fruit exactly as discribed. Would be a curious question for any historians in the crowd.
